The Oil of Saint Philomena is a Catholic sacramental consisting of blessed olive oil that burns in a lamp before the sacred relics of the saint at the Sanctuary of St. Philomena in Mugnano del Cardinale, Italy.
History and Origin
First Miracle: In August 1805, shortly after Saint Philomena’s body arrived in Mugnano, a local mother anointed her blind child's eyes with oil from the votive lamp, instantly restoring the child's sight.
Tradition: Each January, Church authorities bless fresh oil donated by pilgrims and placed before the saint's sacred body.
